Traditional Kenyan mashed maize & potatoes with peas 🥔🌽

Mokimo Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups maize kernels (or canned/frozen)
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Boil maize kernels until tender. Drain and mash lightly.
  2. Boil potatoes until soft, then mash together with the maize.
  3. Cook peas until tender, then mix into the mash.
  4. Add butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and evenly combined.
  5. Serve as a side dish with stews or meats. Enjoy your authentic Mokimo!
